Central Florida Tri Club Update: HYROX Tampa & More

The Central Florida Tri Club weekly update is here, and we have plenty to celebrate! From sprint triathlons and marathons to IRONMAN racing and Special Olympics competition, our athletes continue to demonstrate what dedication, consistency, and community are all about.

This week, we’re also looking ahead to HYROX Tampa 2026, introducing new strength-training opportunities, sharing a delicious high-protein açaí bowl recipe, and starting an important conversation about pelvic health and recovery.

Because being an athlete isn’t just about how fast you go. It’s about how well you take care of your body along the way.

A special recognition goes to our Special Olympics athletes. Sport is about much more than finishing times. It’s about opportunity, inclusion, confidence, and discovering what you’re capable of achieving.

To every athlete who competed: we’re proud of you!

And to everyone preparing for their next race, remember that your journey matters just as much as your destination.

Could HYROX Become an Olympic Sport?

Here’s something exciting for endurance athletes.

HYROX has publicly expressed ambitions for hybrid fitness racing to become part of future Olympic Games, with 2032 and 2036 discussed as potential goals. Olympic inclusion has not been approved.

Meanwhile, Hyathlon, a developing multisport discipline combining running and functional fitness exercises, is helping bring hybrid racing into the federation sports landscape.

The Spanish Triathlon Federation has officially introduced Hyathlon, demonstrating how traditional endurance sports and functional fitness can evolve together.

Why Strength Training Matters for Triathletes

Athletes tackle strength and conditioning exercises

At Central Florida Tri Club, we’ve always believed in developing well-rounded athletes.

Swimming, cycling, and running build endurance. But strength training adds another important element to overall athletic development.

A well-designed strength program can help athletes:

  • Build muscular strength and power.
  • Improve control and stability during movement.
  • Support running and cycling performance.
  • Develop resilience for the demands of training.
  • Maintain strength and function as they age.

We’re planning to incorporate structured strength-training sessions at selected locations as opportunities become available.

These will complement our endurance training, not replace it.

When these sessions are announced, we encourage members to participate. Whether you’re preparing for a sprint triathlon, IRONMAN, or HYROX, strength belongs in your training conversation.

Ingredients — One Serving

  • 1 packet unsweetened frozen açaí purée
  • ¾ cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 scoop vanilla protein powder
  • ½ frozen banana
  • ¼ cup frozen blueberries or mixed berries
  • A splash of unsweetened almond milk
  • 1 tablespoon hemp hearts
  • 1 teaspoon chia seeds

How to Prepare

  1. Add the frozen açaí, Greek yogurt, protein powder, banana, and berries to a blender.
  2. Add just enough almond milk to blend into a thick consistency.
  3. Pour into a bowl.
  4. Sprinkle hemp hearts and chia seeds over the top.
  5. Enjoy!

Estimated protein: 40–45 grams per serving, depending on your protein powder and yogurt.

Coach’s tip: After a long endurance session, consider adding oats, granola, or additional fruit if you need more carbohydrates to replenish your energy stores.

Good nutrition doesn’t have to be complicated. Consistency matters more than perfection.

💙 Pelvic Health for Athletes: The Conversation We’re Not Having Enough

A woman in a fitness pose, highlighting the importance of pelvic health with the text: 'Why Pelvic Health Matters.' Key points include restoring function, supporting confidence, and improving quality of life, set against a purple and dark background.

Let’s talk about something that often gets overlooked in endurance sports.

We spend hours analyzing heart rate, power output, pace, running technique, and recovery scores.

But how often do we discuss pelvic health?

For some athletes, symptoms involving their bladder, pelvic muscles, or sexual function can quietly affect their training, confidence, and quality of life.

These concerns affect both women and men, and they deserve attention.

Three Pelvic Health Concerns Women May Experience

1. Urinary leakage during exercise

Do you ever leak urine while running, jumping, lifting weights, or even laughing?

Some women experience exercise-related urinary incontinence, but that doesn’t mean they simply have to accept it.

2. Pelvic pressure or heaviness

A feeling of pressure, discomfort, or heaviness in the pelvic region can sometimes indicate a pelvic support problem, including pelvic organ prolapse.

3. Pelvic pain or discomfort during intimacy

Pelvic muscle tension and other medical conditions can contribute to discomfort during intimacy or daily activities.

These are symptoms worth discussing with a qualified healthcare professional.

Three Pelvic Health Concerns Men May Experience

1. Frequent or urgent urination

Getting up repeatedly at night or feeling a constant urge to urinate may signal a bladder, prostate, or pelvic health concern.

2. Pelvic or perineal discomfort

Pain or pressure around the groin, perineum, or pelvic region can occur for several reasons, including some pelvic muscle and nerve conditions.

3. Sexual function difficulties

Erectile difficulties, pain during sexual activity, or related concerns can have multiple contributing causes and deserve proper evaluation.

The Message Every Athlete Needs to Hear

Common doesn’t mean normal for you. And silence shouldn’t be your treatment plan.

Pelvic symptoms have many possible causes. Some respond well to pelvic floor physical therapy, while others require evaluation by a physician or another qualified specialist.

The first step is having a conversation.

You can speak privately with Coach Hector about how symptoms are affecting your training. Your coach can help you consider training adjustments and guide you toward an appropriate healthcare professional for evaluation.

Don’t allow embarrassment to prevent you from seeking help.

⚡ WINBACK Recovery in Central Florida: Meet Dr. Allan Sidorsky

A medical professional standing next to a recovery machine in a clinical setting, promoting athlete recovery services at Quantum Care in Ocoee, Florida.

Training hard is only one part of improving performance.

Recovery, managing discomfort, and maintaining mobility matter too.

We’re excited to highlight Dr. Allan Sidorsky, a chiropractic physician at Quantumcare Medical, Sports & Injury in Ocoee, Florida.

Dr. Sidorsky has a background in sports and kinesiology and works with individuals seeking support for musculoskeletal health and physical function.

Quantumcare has incorporated WINBACK BACK4 TECAR technology into its treatment offerings.

What Is WINBACK TECAR Therapy?

WINBACK is a radiofrequency-based technology that trained practitioners can integrate with hands-on therapy and rehabilitation.

Depending on the individual and treatment goals, it may be used as an adjunct to support tissue-focused treatment, mobility, and musculoskeletal rehabilitation.

It isn’t a replacement for medical evaluation or a guaranteed solution to every injury or pelvic health concern.

Why Should Athletes Know About It?

If you’re managing recurring discomfort, muscle tension, mobility limitations, or persistent symptoms that interfere with training, the appropriate next step may be a professional assessment.

Your coach can help determine whether your training should be modified and whether a referral makes sense.

💬 Your Coach Is Here for More Than Race Day

Here’s something I want every athlete in our community to understand:

You don’t have to figure everything out on your own.

Maybe you’re struggling to balance strength training with endurance training.

Maybe your recovery hasn’t felt quite right.

Maybe you’re experiencing discomfort that you’ve been ignoring.

Or maybe you’ve simply reached a point where you need a different approach to your training.

Talk to your coach.

Our first step is to understand what’s happening, discuss your goals, and determine what kind of support you may need.

That could mean adjusting training intensity, reviewing nutrition and recovery habits, incorporating strength sessions, or connecting you with a qualified healthcare professional when appropriate.

The important thing is taking action before small concerns become bigger obstacles.
