Week of Nov 13 – 19, 2023

Hello Central Florida Triathlon Club team,

I hope this email finds you in high spirits. First and foremost, I want to say what an incredible weekend it was, filled with exciting events and celebrations. I’m glad you all had the opportunity to let loose and enjoy yourselves. However, as they say, “Demasiado Pariseo” – the party’s over, and now it’s time for us to get back to work.

With Cartagena 70.3 and Clash just three weeks away, and Haines City 30 days out, it’s crucial that we shift our focus and start preparing for these upcoming races. Here are a few key areas I’d like us to focus on this week:

  1. Clothing and Gear: Let’s ensure we have all our training gear and race essentials ready for the week ahead. Take some time to organize your gear, ensuring everything is clean, functional, and in good condition.
  2. Meal Preparation: Nutrition plays a vital role in our performance. Let’s dedicate some time this week to meal prep, ensuring we have a well-balanced and nourishing diet during our training sessions and races.
  3. Timeliness: Commit to arriving at least 10-15 minutes prior to each workout this week. This will give you ample time to properly warm up and prepare for the training session ahead.
  4. Important Meeting: For those of you racing in Cartagena 70.3, I want to remind you about our meeting on Monday at 7 pm at Tri Peak Athlete. We have several important matters to discuss, and your attendance is greatly appreciated.
  5. Assistant Coaches: As I will be leaving for Cozumel on Wednesday morning, I ask that you respect and follow the instructions of our Assistant Coaches in my absence. They are fully capable and will provide the guidance you need during this time.

Essential Items for Swimming

These are essential items you will need for swimming at the pool. Such as:

  1. Goggles – Protect your eyes and see like a superhero with a pair of trusty goggles. They’ll keep the water out and help you spot any lurking sea monsters.
  2. Swim cap – A swim cap helps streamline your head in the water, reduces drag, and keeps your hair out of your face. Choose a durable and snug-fitting cap made of silicone or latex.
  3. Eye cream – Say no to “goggle eyes” with a little help from some magical eye cream. No one wants to scare fellow swimmers with dark circles that resemble a creature from the depths.
  4. Hair moisturizer – Keep your locks luscious and free from chlorine damage by using a hair moisturizer. Because let’s face it, dry and damaged hair is not a good look, especially when you’re trying to make waves in the pool.
  5. Snorkel :Using a snorkel during training can help improve your technique and breathing. Look for a snorkel that is comfortable to use and allows for easy breathing while keeping your face in the water.( https://a.co/d/gXisSXb )
  6. Paddles and buoy to build strength: Paddles and a buoy are excellent tools for building upper body strength and improving overall swimming performance. Choose paddles and a buoy that fit securely and comfortably. (https://a.co/d/gXisSXb & https://a.co/d/jh4S1Ix )
  7. Fins: Fins provide added propulsion and help improve your kick technique. Select fins that are appropriate for your foot size and provide a good balance between power and flexibility. (https://a.co/d/icYzynO ).
  8. Gear Bag: To keep all your swimming essentials organized, invest in a durable gear bag with separate compartments for wet and dry items. This will make it easier to transport and store your equipment.

While some of these items may come with a price tag, keep an eye out for holiday sales and discounts. Remember, investing in quality gear can enhance your swimming experience and contribute to better performance.

Schedule

Please review the schedule for this week. There are a few adjustments.

Additionally, I want to take a moment to extend a huge shout out to Gio and Elise for hosting an amazing Race Celebration Party this past weekend. It was a fantastic event, and we appreciate your efforts in bringing the team together. Thank you!

Lastly, I want to express my sincere gratitude for your unwavering commitment to your health and the sport. Your dedication is truly inspiring, and I am confident that with our collective efforts, we will achieve great things in the upcoming races.

Let’s get back on track and continue pushing ourselves to new heights!

Best regards,
