Weekend Training Update: Get Ready for Clash Endurance and Haines City! – Nov 23 and 24, 2024

Hello CFL Tri Club Members,

I hope this message finds you well and ready for another exciting weekend of training. As many of you are gearing up for the Clash Endurance and Haines City events, I wanted to share our training focus for this weekend.

Saturday:

  • Bike Ride: Plan for a 2 1/2 hour ride. This will help build endurance and prepare you for the upcoming races.
  • Transition Run: Immediately following your ride, go for a 20-minute run. Focus on maintaining your race pace effort off the bike. This will be crucial for your race day performance.

Sunday:

  • Clash Endurance Runners: For those participating, start your run with the first 6 miles at your long run pace or moderate effort. Finish strong with the last 2 miles at your race pace effort. This will help simulate race conditions and improve your pacing strategy.
  • Haines City Racers: I recommend a 12-mile run. Begin with 8 miles at your moderate pace effort, then push through the last 4 miles at your race pace effort. I encourage you to walk for 20 seconds in between each mile to allow your body to reset. If possible, try to do this on a hilly rolling course to mimic race conditions.

Additional Tips:

  • Stretching: Ensure you stretch thoroughly before and after your sessions. This is vital for injury prevention and muscle recovery.
  • Hip Flexor Care: For those who spend a lot of time sitting during the week, pay extra attention to opening up your hip flexors. Tight hip flexors can affect your training, so incorporate some targeted stretching to keep them flexible.

The Running Event – Austin, TX

In addition, as you all may know, this past week I was at TRE (The Running Event), where I had the chance to review and see all the new shoes, gadgets, and running gear coming out for 2025. I can’t wait to share these exciting developments with you all. One of the most interesting aspects I witnessed was the timeline and innovation each running company goes through in developing their running shoes. It’s fascinating to see how they test and ensure their products deliver on their promises.

Let’s make the most of this weekend’s training and continue building towards our goals. If you have any questions or need further guidance, feel free to reach out.

Train smart, stay disciplined, and let’s keep pushing forward!

Best,
