CFL Tri Club Weekly Training Update: August 17–23, 2026

By Coach Hector L. Torres, USA Triathlon Level III Certified Coach

Team, a new week gives us another opportunity to become stronger, more consistent, and more confident in your triathlon training. You do not need a perfect week to make progress. Focus on completing the workout in front of you, supporting your teammates, and making choices that move you closer to your goals. Every time you show up, you strengthen the habits that will carry you through training and across the finish line.

Tri Peak Athlete + Winback Triathlon Performance & Recovery Program

We are excited to begin the Tri Peak Athlete and Winback 12-Week Triathlon Performance & Recovery Program! This program brings structured triathlon coaching, performance monitoring, assessments, strength and mobility work, and scheduled Winback Care+ sessions into one complete athlete-development experience.

Throughout the program, we will evaluate how consistent training, recovery support, and athlete readiness influence:

  • Training completion rates
  • Recovery between sessions
  • Readiness for key endurance workouts
  • Strength and mobility metrics
  • Training-load tolerance
  • Overall athlete performance

Coach’s Tip: Consistency Beats Perfection

One excellent workout cannot replace a week of inconsistent training. The athletes who improve the most are usually not the ones who push as hard as possible every day. They are the athletes who repeatedly complete the right workout at the right intensity.

Weekly Training Checklist:

  • Follow the target purpose of each workout.
  • Keep easy endurance sessions truly easy.
  • Fuel properly before and during longer workouts.
  • Record your workout and comments inside TrainingPeaks.
  • If time is limited, communicate before skipping sessions.
  • Prioritize sleep and athletic recovery.

Healthy Recovery Recipe: Mediterranean Chicken Bowl

This simple recovery meal provides carbohydrates to replenish glycogen, lean protein for muscle repair, and micronutrient-dense vegetables.

Ingredients:

  • 4–6 oz grilled chicken breast
  • 1 cup cooked brown rice or quinoa
  • 1 cup chopped cucumber and tomatoes
  • ½ cup fresh spinach
  • ¼ cup chickpeas
  • 2 tbsp hummus
  • 1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil & fresh lemon juice
  • Salt, pepper, and oregano to taste (Optional: feta or avocado)

Fueling Strategy: For longer training days, increase the carbohydrate serving (rice/quinoa). After shorter recovery sessions, prioritize vegetables and moderate carbohydrates.
