Hello Team,
I hope you are all bundled up and holding down from the storm. This week we have the upcoming race with Special Olympics at Waterfront Park in Clermont, FL. So, please review this week’s schedule.

Athlete Highlight: Kellie Overly
What’s your go-to pre-race meal that never fails to fuel you up and make you smile?
First Watch banana nut pancakes
Tell us about a hilarious race moment that still makes you laugh when you look back on it.
My second Ironman 70.3 Hawaii, I had a two piece kit that a small portion of my skin on my back was exposed when I was in aero on the bike. I FRIED!! My husband said it looked like a smile from its shape. The tan from it lasted an entire year and he laughed every time he saw it. I make sure to always cover it now.
If you could create a new triathlon event combining three completely random activities, what would they be and why?
I’m would do any three events as long as there was no running.
Share a quirky habit or superstition you have before a race.
I go over my gear and make sure I have everything the night before/morning of an obnoxious amount of times.
Describe your perfect post-race celebration in three words.
Shower then sleep
If you were a superhero with triathlon powers, what would your name be and what abilities would you possess?
After the Ironman Peru 70.3, pretty sure I can swim anything
What’s the strangest thing you’ve seen while training for a triathlon?
I think in general, hearing about race strategies from athletes new to triathlon. It’s funny how much we think we know before we have done a race, and how stubborn we can be to listen to seasoned athletes. It’s probably a coping mechanism we need to have in order to be crazy enough to start this as a hobby
Invent a new triathlon gadget that would make training or racing more entertaining. What does it do?
It would be fun to track people in real time while racing.
If you had to compete in a triathlon using only household items as equipment, what three items would you choose and how would you incorporate them into the race?
Shoes, bike, googles
Lastly, share a motivational quote or funny mantra that keeps you going when the going gets tough.
Since my run in a race is notoriously horrendous, I usually say to myself “thank god I can swim and bike” to keep myself laughing instead of crying.

On September 21, 2024 CFL Tri Club / Tri Peak Athletes team page for Swim for Inclusion is activated. Here is the link to the team page:
For any Special Olympic athlete who signs up, please use the code Athlete2024 to get a free swim registration.
If swimmers were registered before, please remember to log in first before signing up. Log in button is in the upper right-hand corner of the website labeled in a black box LOGIN. This makes it easier to register.
The unified partners will need to register as well. I suggest them registering by April 30th if they want to save $10. If not, the registration fee will go back to $35.
Let’s work hard to keep the Largest Team award again this year! Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you!
