I hope you’re all ready for an exciting weekend of training and activities! Here is the detailed schedule for this weekend. We have included some helpful nutrition recommendations. These will keep you fueled and performing at your best.
Saturday, May 17, 2025
Location: Lake Louisa State Park
- 7:00 AM: 3-hour Bike / 20-min Run (Only if you have an annual pass)
- 8:00 AM: 2-hour Bike / 20-min Run
Nutrition Tips for Saturday’s Training:
- Before the session: Have a balanced pre-workout meal 30-60 minutes prior. Eat a banana with almond butter or oatmeal with a scoop of protein powder.
- On the bike ride: Bring energy gels, bananas, or homemade energy bars to consume every 45-60 minutes. Don’t forget to hydrate with an electrolyte drink.
- For the run: Sip water or a light electrolyte solution. Consider a quick carb source like chews or gels for sustained energy.
Special Olympics Training
- 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM
- Location: Downtown YMCA
- Strength and Swim session
Sunday, May 18, 2025
Location: Baldwin Park – Dog Park
- 6:30 AM: 10k, 15k, or 20k Run
Nutrition Tips for Sunday’s Long Run:
- Before the run: Eat a small meal with carbs and protein. Examples include toast with peanut butter and honey. You could also have a smoothie with fruit and Greek yogurt.
- During the run: Carry a hydration belt or handheld bottle with electrolyte drinks. Consume energy gels, chews, or small snacks every 45 minutes to maintain energy levels.
