CFL Tri Club Weekly Schedule – RACE WEEK!

This is a special week for our community. We have athletes racing on the world stage at the Ironman World Championships in Nice, France. Others are proudly representing at the Special Olympics Florida State Championships in Clermont on Sunday, September 14.

To all of you racing — remember that you’ve done the work. This week is about sharpening, resting, and stepping confidently onto the start line.


✅ Race Week Checklist

  • Race Gear: Tri suit, goggles, helmet, bike shoes, run shoes, race belt, timing chip, sunglasses, visor/hat, wetsuit (if required).
  • Nutrition & Hydration: Pack gels, chews, bottles, and breakfast items you’ve trained with.
  • Travel & Logistics: Check bike setup, tire pressure, and ensure race numbers are ready.
  • Mindset: Visualize success, trust your training, and focus on the process.

📅 Pre-Race Day Plan (Saturday)

  • 20 min Swim with a few race-pace pickups
  • 20 min Bike spin, include 3–4 short pickups
  • 20 min Run with strides to open up the legs
  • Early Dinner – low-fiber carbs, lean protein, and hydrate well
  • Sleep – Lights out early for quality rest

🍳 Race Week Breakfast Tips

Day Before the Race:

  • Oatmeal with honey and banana
  • Whole-grain toast with peanut butter
  • Eggs or egg whites for protein
  • Hydrate consistently (water + electrolytes)

Race Morning:

  • Stick to what you’ve practiced in training — no surprises!
  • Aim to finish eating 2–3 hours before your start time

🌡️ Race Day Temperatures

  • Nice, France (Ironman World Championships): Mid-70s °F (24 °C), warm and humid on the bike/run.
  • Clermont, FL (Special Olympics State Championships): High 80s °F (31 °C), humid — hydration and cooling strategies are key.

  • Monday, Sept 8 – Swim at Downtown YMCA, 6:00 AM
  • Tuesday, Sept 9 – Bike (Spin Room, Downtown YMCA) 5:30 AM, followed by Run
    • WITS at 3:30 pm (DTWN YMCA)
  • Wednesday, Sept 10 – Self-lead Swim (check E-Peak for workout)
  • Thursday, Sept 11 – Run: 45 min with pickups every 10 min after warm-up (5 x 1 min progressions, 4 min jog recovery)
    • WITS at 3:30 pm (DTWN YMCA)
  • Friday, Sept 12 – Rest Day
  • Saturday, Sept 13 – Race prep: 20 min swim, 20 min bike, 20 min run
  • Sunday, Sept 14 – Race Day! Ironman World Championships (Nice, France) + Special Olympics Florida State Championships (Clermont, FL)
